The Full Story

Equine Therapy

At June's Second Chance Ranch Inc., we are dedicated to stepping up our efforts in addressing the epidemic of trauma based illnesses, especially in our veteran population to help decrease service member suicide. There are very few services for veterans and everyday people suffering from these ailments. JSCR developed our program by combining ground work therapy, therapeutic riding and widely used holistic approaches to tackle mental health issues, and through cooperation and community empowerment we believe we can facilitate a successful program to help those suffering from PTSD and other trauma related symptoms.

*JSCR is an all volunteer run facility and we are not licensed therapists or mental health professionals.

Trilby

Trilby is a beautiful 14 year old mare (female) Arabian horse. She is so sweet, gentle and LOVES people and truly enjoys the attention and love she gets during therapy sessions. Trilby is being boarded at June's Second Chance Ranch and her owner is kind enough to let us use her for our equine therapy sessions for our service members. She is perfect for our program and the service members have been able to quickly form a bond with her. She is such an easy rider and loves showing off her grace and poise in the round pen!

Charlie

Charlie is also a 14 year old quarter horse mix. Charlie was a rescue, saved off of a slaughter truck the day before he was going to be shipped off to Mexico for horse meat, back in February 2023. He was very sick, skinny, and suffering from a number of neglect health issues that have since been addressed and healed thanks to our generous donors. He is such a sweet boy and absolutely loves people and attention. He quickly formed bonds with our volunteers and loves visits. He loves his treats and meeting new people, and loves being brushed and loved on. We don't know much about Charlies' past, but we know he has been through a lot, and the service members can really relate to him that way. Charlie is great for ground work therapy and he is in training so that we can hopefully use him for our riding program soon :)
